Assistance League announces Silver Belle Awards

Assistance League of Chaves County honored the fall 2021 Silver Belle Award recipients at an evening ceremony on Nov. 29 at the chapter house located at 2601 Aspen in Roswell. Silver Belles is a philanthropic program of Assistance League designed to recognize deserving high school senior girls from each participating high school in Chaves County. The students are selected by their schools on the basis of achievement, character and volunteering.

Receiving Silver Belle Awards were Lily Barrios (Dexter High School), Pearla Borunda (Roswell High School), Kiley Cogdill (Gateway Christian School), Audrey Guerrero (University High School), Ambrosia Teasyatwho (Goddard High School), Kayla Theimer (Goddard High School), Elaina Velasquez (Gateway Christian School), and Hanna Votaw (University High School).

Since 2000, Las Lianas Committee of Assistance League invites each recipient along with her mother/guardian to an evening meeting and presents her with a certificate, a silver bell charm, and a tour of the Operation School Bell facilities located in the chapter house.

Assistant Chair Joan Boue’ presented certificates signed by current Chapter President Kay Jones and Las Lianas Committee Chair Emma Burt to the eight honorees. Connie James conducted the Operation School Bell tour. A light buffet was served for the 30 guests and members in attendance.
