Starbucks reusable cups: you can now bring cups for mobile and drive-through orders

Coffee fans, rejoice! Starbucks has just announced a new way to get your caffeine fix. Starting today, January 3, Starbucks will offer the option for patrons to use reusable cups in drive-through and mobile orders. Starbucks highlights this as a way to reduce cup waste, which is part of its commitment to reduce waste of all kinds 50% by the year 2030.

When will you be able to use reusable cups at Starbucks?

Starbucks will allow customers to use their own reusable cups in cafes starting today, January 3.

How can you use a reusable cup at Starbucks?

Customers at Starbucks can now use reusable cups for mobile, drive-through orders, and in-store orders, all of which will save drinkers $0.10, and give rewards members an additional 25 Bonus Stars.

When ordering in the café: Customers can tell their barista that they brought their own cup. They’ll then hand it over to be filled by the barista.

When ordering at the drive-through: Customers will place their order as usual and tell the barista that they’ve brought their own cup. At the pickup window, the customer will hand the personal cup to the barista without the lid who will collect and return it using a holder to ensure hygiene.

When ordering via the Starbucks app: Customers will order as normal and select “personal cup” via the customization menu. When they arrive at the store, they’ll meet their barista at the pickup area and hand them the cup without the lid. The cup will be collected and returned using a holder to ensure hygiene.

Reusable cups are expected to be cleaned by the customer before bringing them to the store.

All company-owned Starbucks locations nationwide will allow you to use your own cup. Select licensed stores will allow you to use your own cup as well.
