Hong Kong’s annual Wine and Dine Festival returned on Thursday, showcasing an expanded range of premium wine and food offerings, along with a focus on promoting Chinese wines.
The four-day event, themed “Remix – Best of All Worlds”, featured around 300 booths and was expected to attract some 150,000 visitors throughout the festival.
Organisers had arranged for the event’s hours to be extended until midnight, with doors opening at 7.30pm on Thursday and noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The BEA Grand Wine Pavilion, a section dedicated to premium wines, also made a return with some 500 bottles of top-tier and rare wines, including those from the five French “First Growth” estates – Lafite, Latour, Margaux, Haut-Brion and Mouton – and Italy’s Biondi-Santi.
But Chinese grape wines were also being highlighted, with a counter curated by world-renowned critic James Suckling featuring over 100 of his highest-rated bottles with a dedicated section for premium Chinese vintages.
“Hong Kong is a very important platform for Chinese wines,” said Zekun Shuai, senior editor at JamesSuckling.com.
