Sofia Vergara isn’t just aging like a fine wine. She’s also developed a taste for expensive stuff!
The former Modern Family actress, 53, routinely spends upwards of $2,000 to 3,000 on a bottle of vino without blinking an eye, a source tells the National Enquirer.
“Sofia doesn’t have a drinking problem. She has a drinking hobby and it’s something she’s put time, energy, money and taste into over the years,” says the source.
Like most things in life, though, it’s all about balance.
“She’s careful about almost everything she puts into her body, but wine is where she cheats,” the source adds. “This is how she enjoys life, one extravagantly priced bottle at a time, and it’s also how she celebrates a big win, of which she’s had quite a few since Modern Family ended.”

Vergara has also become an “evangelist” for vino, says the Enquirer’s source, and her close network of friends are hugely benefitting as a result.
“Her wine collection is world-class,” the source reveals. “When you go over to her house, the thing she is proudest of is her wine cellar, which deliberately looks like something you might find in a French chateau or an ancient Italian castle. It’s a space she splurged on.”
The five-time Emmy nominee, who’s worth an estimated $180 million, can certainly afford to.
“In other areas of her life, she’s a conservative spender and carefully watches every penny, But becoming a true wine aficionado isn’t cheap,” notes the source. “Just ask anybody who knows about Johnny Depp’s own extravagant taste for the stuff!”
