New Christmas Pantomime coming to The Corn Exchange

A theatre company in Oxfordshire is coming back to the stage with their annual pantomime at Wallingford’s Corn Exchange.

The Sinodun Players, resident company and owner of the theatre, are presenting their new production of the classic fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty.

The set is under construction, the costumes are being fabricated, the lighting and special effects are in the design stage and the music is being finalised, all whilst rehearsals are in full swing.

Gloria Wright is directing her version in a time travelling and humorous retelling of Charles Perrault’s classic French fairy tale, written by Wallingford based Pete Orton & Barbara Wood.

She said: “Sleeping Beauty is going to be an extra-special production that lives up to our usual high quality and includes our talented youth section ‘Encore’ who are performing in this production in a variety of different roles.

“The set design is a very new departure for us and I’m so excited to experience that wow factor when audiences see it for the first time! The script has a lot of laughs, and you’ll find a lot of characters and situations that certainly don’t feature in the traditional story (who knew that a cat plays an important part in the story!) And, of course, we’ve chosen a range of contemporary music to get your feet tapping.”

Booking is now open, performances will start on January 14 until January 29 – Tuesdays to Fridays, there will be no performances Sundays and Mondays -.
