Silver Surfer Deck Guide (Tips, Cards, & Strategies)

Once the star card of Marvel SNAP’s The Power Cosmic season, the Silver Surfer has now entered Pool 5 as a rare 3 Cost, 0 Power card that all players can add to their collections. To save his planet from destruction, the Silver Surfer struck a deal with Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, to travel the cosmos in search of planets for Galactus to consume. In Marvel SNAP, the Silver Surfer’s Power Cosmic manifests as an On Reveal ability that gives every player a 3-Cost cards an extra 3 Power, making him a force to be reckoned with in decks use many of these cards.
In building decks around Silver Surfer, the player will likely find that he has no real synergy with Marvel SNAP’s Galactus card, whose ability wrecks most of the board. Instead, the card is most effective when the player has kept their locations intact, using the game’s many 3-Cost cards to control the board, knocking their opponent’s cards to other locations and locking them down. 3-Cost cards are the focus of most Silver Surfer decks in Marvel SNAP, as playing the card will boost all of them regardless of location.
Tips And Tricks For Using Silver Surfer
The player should include several 3 Cost cards in any deck with Silver Surfer, as the card won’t add any Power to locations by itself. Compared to other cards, such as Marvel SNAP’s controversial Leader, which don’t require much synergy and can slot into most decks, Silver Surfer requires the player to strategize. Despite his relatively low cost, it’s generally recommended that the player spends most of their turns setting up and locking down locations for Silver Surfer to swoop in with a massive Power boost to many cards in the final turn.
Certain cards, such as Brood, whose ability spawns two 3-Cost Broodling cards at the same location, work well in most Silver Surfer decks. Other cards, such as Mister Negative, form niche strategies. Arguably, the Silver Surfer card is tricky to counter due to its rarity. It sits well above Marvel SNAP’s Pool 3, and not many players will have reached the high collection level needed to find it. In addition, few players will be familiar enough with the card to recognize when the player is setting up their board to play it.
Silver Surfer-Sera Deck
This deck lets the player set up 3-Cost cards that benefit in a big way from Silver Surfer, with a particular focus on locking down locations for easy wins. For example, Storm allows the player to flood an area, preventing cards from being played there. This can force an opponent to abandon their strategy to react to this by playing cards.
The player can gain the upper hand by playing Goose, whose ability stops both players from playing 4, 5, and 6-Cost cards at his location. In an ordinary deck, this can prevent the player from using some of Marvel SNAP’s best cards. However, as the player’s deck is mainly made up of 3-Cost cards, Goose’s ability affects the opponent much more and can prevent them from playing high-Power cards. This combination can be used to lock down a location.
Brood is an alternative way to control a location by adding two Broodling cards to the same location. All three cards benefit from Silver Surfer’s Power boost. The player can use Okoye or Ironheart to give these cards extra Power either before or after Brood has been played. The player can also take a page from Marvel SNAP’s top Sauron decks by including cards such as Maximus. Although Maximus’ ability gives the opponent two extra cards, his 7 Power arguably makes this trade-off worth it.
Juggernaut and Polaris allow players to control their opponent’s moves to some degree. Juggernaut’s On Reveal ability knocks any cards the opponent has played to random locations, giving him some synergy with Storm. The player also benefits from including Polaris, as she offers 5 Power. On top of that, she also pulls over one of the opponent’s 1 or 2-Cost cards to her location, allowing the player to ruin their opponent’s placement. The player should be careful not to move cards that benefit from being moved, such as Dagger from a Marvel SNAP Cloak and Dagger deck.
Wong and Sera round this deck out, with Sera reducing all card costs by 1 and allowing the player to play more cards. Wong is a core card for many hard-hitting card combos as he causes On Reveal abilities to happen twice at his location. This synergizes well with Silver Surfer, Ironheart, Okoye, and Wolfsbane’s On Reveal abilities, giving the player opportunities to build high-Power cards.

Silver Surfer-Mr.Negative Deck
This deck uses the ability of Marvel SNAP’s Mr. Negative card, which swaps the cost and Power of all cards in the player’s deck. Notably, this benefits the Silver Surfer card, making it a 0 Cost, 3 Power card while keeping its Power-boosting ability. By focusing on cards that start with 0 Power, such as Angela, Adam Warlock, Ironheart, Mystique, and Iron Man, the player can use Mr. Negative’s swapping ability to get several free high-Power cards with potent skills.
This synergizes with Bishop, who gains additional Power whenever a card is played, allowing the player to rapidly build his Power by playing these free cards. Having free cards also increases the player’s chances of building much more Power than their opponent, helping them get additional card draws from Adam Warlock’s ability. As a result, some of Marvel SNAP’s top Ongoing cards, such as Iron Man, who doubles the player’s Power at his location, and Angela, who gains Power each time a card is played at her location, become incredibly strong.
This deck is rounded out by a combination of Bast, who sets the Power of all cards in the player’s hand to 3, and Sera. When swapped by Mr. Negative’s ability, the player can use Sera to reduce the cost of all their cards to 2. The player can then use Silver Surfer to boost their cards.
This can be tricky to pull off as card draws are random, but the player can get around this by ensuring that Adam Warlock’s ability remains active. While it’s easy to spot and counter other deck types, such as Marvel SNAP’s Discard decks, a Mr. Negative-Silver Surfer deck can be hard to spot and even harder to counter.

Building and playing a Silver Surfer deck can be difficult, as the player needs to shift their focus away from typical strategies using high-Power cards. Filling a deck with relatively low cost, low Power cards might make the player feel that they’re joining matches without the Power to match their opponents. However, as long as the player pays attention to Marvel SNAP’s locations and set up their cards just right, Silver Surfer can provide an incredible late-game boost to help them grab victory.
