20-year-old injured in drive-by shooting at Michigan Sugar plant | Crime

A drive-by shooting outside Michigan Sugar’s plant on Euclid Avenue in Bay City early on New Year’s Day left a 20-year-old with non-life-threatening injuries.



BAY CITY, Mich. (WJRT) – A drive-by shooting at a Michigan Sugar plant in Bay City on New Year’s Day left a 20-year-old with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Bay City Department of Public Safety says the shooting was reported around 6:35 a.m. on the city’s west side. The scene was in the parking lot outside Michigan Sugar’s plant at 2600 S. Euclid Ave.

Investigators say multiple suspects riding in a dark colored vehicle fired at the 20-year-old victim, who was completing his shift at the plant. He was taken to an area hospital and listed in stable condition Monday with gunshot wound to his leg.

Police from Bay City and the Bay County Sheriff’s Office searched the area for suspects Monday morning, but they could not locate the vehicle or the alleged shooters.

They did not release any detailed descriptions of the suspects or any information about a possible motive for the shooting Monday morning. Police believe the shooting was not related to the victim’s job at Michigan Sugar.
